Interview with Nick C.: HR Business Partner a.i. via HRbuilders
Why did you decide to become a freelancer?
After working as a consultant at an HR consultancy firm, the thought of freelancing stayed in the back of my mind. Eventually, the big step came sooner than expected. I had already worked with freelancers over the years, so it seemed like an obvious career move. For me, the only downside is the uncertainty and the need to guard your reputation. There’s little room for mistakes. In fairness, that’s also the exciting part. Another huge advantage: no company politics. You observe the company from a distance. Your expertise and different outlook are very much appreciated.
What is the freelancer’s added value for the company?
The company wants someone with a wide range of experiences, who is not stuck in set processes and who knows multiple solutions to the same problem. Often, you work as a project manager, which means that you can get faster results.
What do you expect from an Interim Management Agency?
I expect an agency to know and understand the market in order to create that ultimate match between an assignment and a freelancer. HRbuilders is built by HR experts who have worked in the field for years. It makes matchmaking that much quicker. We established a cooperation in under a month, which is quite something in my opinion. Contact with the back office is great as well! Quick and pleasant.
